Spud, the Noseless Wonder 🐾

Spud didn’t arrive with much to his name—just a battered little body and a heart that somehow never gave up.

He’s a three-year-old street dog from Tijuana, Mexico, and like so many dogs trying to survive, he learned to forage wherever he could.

One day, while living on the street, someone chose cruelty over compassion. Some sort of blunt force trauma shattered his nose, broke his teeth, and made breathing a struggle.

Spud's body tells the full story of life on the streets. He came to us dangerously underweight, battling mange, parasitic worms, conjunctivitis, a broken tail—and the facial trauma that made every breath an effort.

And yet—this is the part that still stops us in our tracks—Spud is pure love.

On January 20, 2026, Spud became our 46th foster and from the moment me met him, he leaned in. He melted. He pressed his little body into our arms as if to say, Oh… so this is what safety feels like.Ā

Spud is thrilled to be an indoor dog. Rugs? Heaven. Blankets? Bliss. Human company? Absolute joy. He snores at full volume – 10 on the scale. He purrs when he’s content, lets out the sweetest little grunt when he’s extra cozy, and makes the most endearing pig-like noises when he eats.

Spud's tiny buck teeth peek out in a way that makes everyone who sees him smile—every single time.

Spud has aunties and uncles from across the globe who are cheering him on. People from Norway, Poland, Mexico, Canada, Germany—and so many other places—have fallen in love with this precious soul. Even though they’ve never met Spud, they feel deeply connected to his journey and recovery.

As of this writing, more than 101 people from around the world have come together to help Spud get the reconstructive nose surgery he needs. Proof that kindness travels. Proof that love multiplies. Proof that sometimes, the universe really does show up.

Spud is inspiration. He teaches us about resilience. Softness. The power of community. The kind of healing that happens when compassion meets courage.

Welcome to your happily ever after, Spud. You deserve all the love! 🐾
